ChatGPT is a language model that uses artificial intelligence to have a conversation. It is able to answer questions and write content such as articles, summaries, essays, and emails among other content types.

It can also check writing for spelling and grammar or change the writing style. It should be noted that it is not perfect. It is known to make things up and create fake sources. This should not be used to write your papers.

Correct uses include:

• Asking questions about spelling, grammar, and other writing conventions
• Asking it to reword a couple of sentences for clarity (use this sparingly, as you will run into trouble with plagiarism)
• Emailing a professor, you can ask it to make an email sound more formal
• It can be used like a thesaurus
